+<p>Due to the <a href="http://swpat.ffii.org/">directive validating
+Software Patents</a> that will be voted on at the
+<a href="http://www.europarl.eu.int/">European Parliament</a> on
+September 25<sup>th</sup>, we have decided to protest.</p>
+
+<p>When Software Patents are legalised in Europe, several trivial
+patents such as progress bars, storing music, monitoring network hosts
+etc. will be legal and enforceable. This will be the death for many
+small and medium sized enterprises that don't maintain large patent
+pools like IBM and Microsoft. This would also hurt the Free Software
+movement.</p>
+

+for a Software Patent Free Europe</a>.</p>
